Shockwave Therapy

Getting you back to active as soon as possible

Extracorporeal shockwave therapy (ESWT) is a non-invasive treatment where high-energy shockwaves are applied to the affected area of the body to promote healing and reduce pain. It is important to know that the "shockwaves" are mechanical and not electrical, and they create a series of mechanical pulses that transmit through the skin to the targeted tissue.

Shockwave Therapy is used to treat various musculoskeletal conditions, including:

  1. Tendinopathies: Such as plantar fasciitis, Achilles tendinopathy, tennis elbow (lateral epicondylitis), and calcific shoulder tendinitis.

  2. Joint Conditions: Such as osteoarthritis.

  3. Soft Tissue Injuries: Such as myofascial trigger points and muscle strains.

The therapeutic effects of Shockwave Therapy are believed to include:

  • Stimulation of blood flow
  • Tissue regeneration
  • Pain relief
  • Helping to eliminate certain pathological changes in tendons, ligaments, capsules, muscles and bones
