When I first moved to London (UK), and then to Singapore, I was lucky enough to learn from some of the best pelvic health practitioners (expert physiotherapists, specialist nurses, Urogynaecologists etc.) in the world. Coming back to Canada, I realized that pelvic health wasn't quite as "well-known" here as it was abroad. Pelvic health has always been close to my heart, especially as it was what made me want to be a physiotherapist (I was even voted "most likely to teach kegels" at my MScPT graduation), so when I joined Gail Pateman at Hollyburn Physio, I knew I wanted to grow that part of our practice.
Since moving back to BC, I’ve been looking closely at where the gaps are in care on the North Shore and Vancouver. I’m excited to announce that I am fitting and support people who would like to use vaginal pessaries including: discussing options, fitting, maintenance, and guiding you in living well with a pessary.
What is a vaginal pessary? In a future blog I will outline what they are, what they are used for and the process of obtaining one if it is right for you. You can also give the awesome ladies at the front desk a call and they would be happy to answer any questions.
I’m really happy that we’re starting to bridge this gap and to be another resource for people on the North Shore.
If it’s been a while since your last pelvic health check, I’d love for you to book in with one of our specialists. And of course, if a pessary is something you might need, you can now come see us for that too—I’d be happy to help!
Here's to improving pelvic health on the North Shore,
