Heather Watson B.sc., MPT
Heather completed a Bachelor’s of Science in the field of Biology at the University of Victoria and a Bachelors of Education at the University of British Columbia. Following this she taught Science and Mathematics at Kitsilano Secondary School for four years before undertaking a Masters of Physical Therapy at UBC’s Faculty of Medicine. Her thesis won the Silver Quill Award for best student paper published in Canada in 2008.
Having worked as a member of a multidisciplinary Pain Management team Heather has extensive experience treating complex injury cases and neuropathic pain. She presents at conferences, consults and provides in-services for fellow health care practitioners. Recently she has begun working closely with competitive athletes which allows her to blend both her teaching and physiotherapy skills.
Heather holds additional, professional certifications in manual therapy and Orthopaedics through the Canadian Orthopaedic Association, anatomical acupuncture through the Acupuncture Foundation of Canada Institute and IMS certification through UBC Gunn IMS. Her work experience includes Pacific Coast Rehab, LifeMark Health’s Pain Management ,Brain Injury teams and Hollyburn Country club
Heather is a former figure skater, and UVic and UBC Water-polo player. In her spare time she enjoys swimming, cycling, hiking, ultimate, cross-country skiing, snowboarding, and playing with her boys, Tom, Max and Sammy.
